Specialized in Law, Economics, Management, Political sciences and Teachers' Training, the University Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV has a broad experience in participating in multiple cooperation projects: creation of a Master's degree in Vietnam with other French and foreign Universities, Jean Monnet programmes, joint research programmes, 7 TEMPUS programmes (Tacis, Phare, Meda) and numerous Erasmus agreements.
The UM-BIV hosts each year more than 2,000 foreign students, out of a total of 14,000. The university is now a member of the University of Bordeaux, which brings together all universities in Bordeaux, comprising all teaching fields and with a large European involvement (Erasmus Mundus, Tempus etc.).
Some of the research carried out in the Languages Department focuses on the Common European Reference Framework for Languages (CERFL). The Department is already involved in the development of Linguistic Policy tools such as an electronic European Language Portfolio (eELP) created in partnership with several European universities and which currently exists in 6 languages including Basque and Occitan.
The UM-BIV will contribute to the methodological framework of the analysis carried out by LILAMA and will provide feedback on good practices of linguistic training at the regional and national levels.
