On June 21st, LILAMA Network was officially launched in the south of Italy during the conference "Politiche linguistiche per le competenze e le prospettive dei lavoratori", held at Consiglio Regionale della Basilicata in Basilicata Region.
The event served as a meeting point for local trade unions, local representatives of the Italian Industrial Association (Confindustria), language teachers and trainers from Basilicata schools, university professors and students, accredited training bodies and other regional stakeholders.
As well as the official launching of LILAMA Network in the region, the event was also important to highlight the cooperation between the Basilicata Region, the Language Learning Centre of the University of Basilicata, the Regional School Office of Basilicata and the Italian Association of Foreign Language Teachers (ANILS), regarding language teaching and training and language policies for the labour market.
Dr. Albanese from the Department of Education, Labour, Culture and Sport of the Basilicata Region presented to the audience the LILAMA Network mission and goals and introduced the rest meeting participants:
- Professor Goffredo, president of the Language Learning Centre of the University of Basilicata.
- Dr. Girolamo, representative fo the Regional School Office of Basilicata.
- Dr. Infante, president of the Basilicata section of the Italian Association of Foreign Language Teachers, ANILS.
Professor Goffredo informed about a model for language training combining both technical and professional aspects, which is being currently processed, and disclosed that the model will be probably presented by the end of the year. Dr. Girolamo focused his speech on the activities of the Office regarding the internationalization of Basilicata schools involved in European projects and the promotion of the importantce of language learning among Basilicata citizens. Finally, Dr. Infante, explained the activities that ANILS is developing in the region in the framework of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), internationalization and multilingualism.
